‘Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak languages as the Spirit gave them ability’. Acts 2:3-4
Until now, even with the three major languages of Hebrew, Greek and Latin being understood by many in Judea and the surrounding areas, the disciples had been fairly restricted in their mission outlook. Commanded by Jesus to wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit came, they could now go as far as they could travel, the Spirits gift of languages and communication giving them access to many more people.
Wherever God calls us to work, he provides the means to carry it through. At our darkest hour he is till there, showing us where we can dare to look, a way back to normality and growth. Even in our deepest grief, the Spirit is there, telling us simply to believe, to return to the point where our love was strongest, and to rest on God. He knows our language. He will see to it that eventually we know his.
With my love and blessings
