Dear Friends,

As you know I have been ‘swotting up on my mystics’ recently, as I described to + Sophie. Todays pause for thought follows a little known one named Thomas Traherne 1637-1674.  Born around Hereford he was the son of a shoemaker and became Rector of Credenhill  near Hereford (where Andy was based as Padre a few years ago) at the tender age of 20yrs.  His is a clear understanding and picture of the fullness of God’s love for all His creation.  In these times of stress, anxiety and fear, we may all be blessed and to some degree, healed by soaking up the timeless glories of God as revealed by this largely forgotten mystic.  He moves towards the spiritual in the common things of life; air, light heaven, the Sun, the trees and others as common, but invisible; the Laws of God, the Soul of Man.  The following is just a short example and I encourage you to seek him out:

‘You never enjoy the world aright, till the Sea itself flows in your veins, till you are clothed with the heavens, and crowned with the stars: and perceive yourself to be the sole heir of the world, and more than so, because men are in it who are everyone sole heirs as well as you.’’

 With every blessing Revd Ali
